After much anticipation our first Seville has received a roof and it looks great. We have been busy covering all of the special events that have been going on here at Harbor Hills and have not posted construction photos in quite some time. Well brace yourself because while we been having a good time at all of the parties our construction teams have been hard at work; so keep coming back to the blog for more construction photos. March 12 Wedding Photo

Harbor Hills Country Club is a beautiful facility to have your special event, whether it is a wedding and reception or other special party. Our terraces offer a panoramic view of Lake Griffin accented by circular stairs with sculpted wrought iron features that lead to the lower terrace. The lower terrace offers an elegantly decorated altar area to accommodate 300 guests. The versatile rooms decorated with brass chandeliers and original artwork offer scenic views of the lake and the golf course. An elegant circular staircase from the lobby provides a grand entrance to the Harbor Room. The mirrored wall adds depth and character to this stately room. The clubhouse can accommodate small or large groups. Be sure to call Terry Cox, Banquet Director, at 352-753-7000 for more information and a tour of the club. Posted by Hello

Some thoughts from one of our residents about the LGA Invitational we ran this weekend.

Some thoughts from one of our residents about the LGA Invitational we ran this weekend.
I have taken the liberty of posting an email from the Chairman of the event to our General Manager Steve Henne. Tells you a lot about what Harbor Hills is all about.

Thanks for the kudos Max..

"Steve, some thoughts I want to share with you post LGA Invitational. As the chairman of this premier event of the LGA, my primary goal was to present HH as the jewel that it is. I invited 31 clubs to participate and almost all did. I was very proud of the outcome, in large part due to the HH staff. Working with Terry Cox was a pleasure. Her experience and kind nature helped alleviate any anxiety I anticipated in planning the event. Christina (grill room) was incredibly attentive and professional in making sure the continental breakfast was pleasing to the guests, monitoring the area for debris and refilling everything as needed. Executive Chef Richard and Sous Chef James did a wonderful job in presenting the menu I selected. Many commented on the extra touches such as the fancy rolls and the fabulous cookie served with the dessert. Everyone oohed and ahhed at the view as we served punch out on the veranda. And last but not least, the folks in the pro shop from Brady to Barbara and everyone in between couldn't have been more helpful to me during the planning and to the shoppers after the tournament. Russell astounds me at the way he is able to make sense of the chaos outside. He and the cart guys did a wonderful job. I was certainly proud to bring these 128 players together to share our wonderful club. Please pass on my thoughts to your staff."

Ladies Golf Association Invitational

The luck of the Irish was needed at this year's annual LGA Invitational which fell on St. Patrick's Day. This year's event was a tremendous success! Over 120 ladies showed up for a fun filled day of food, golf and even the occasional adult beverage. Posted by Hello

Let's go to the Hop...oh baby...let's go to the Hop!

A message from our Activities Director Jerri Mayer...

As part-time activity director and full-time resident, special events and activities at Harbor Hills are my cup of tea.

In addition to golf, tennis and bridge (the 3 biggies), we have many other offerings, including the Sock Hop we held earlier this year, complete with bobby socks and root beer floats.

Karaoke Night was a blast. No one was "gonged," and we identified several people living here who are actually quite talented. The ladies attempted "We are Family," but decided they were better dancers than singers!

Next month we'll be holding a cooking school with our executive and sous chefs to learn about making simple, yet elegant, cocktail party fare. We also have a Bon Voyage Party planned to say good-bye to friends and neighbors who head north for the summer. So stay tuned.

This is a great place to live. Come join the fun! I know you'll enjoy it!

Are you new to blogging?

Does the word "blog" remind you that you are not a "techie?" Is it just another techno-jargon word that is for a bunch of geeks sitting in their dorm rooms late at night playing X-Box?

Actually, a "blog" is quite simple. It is a web log. Now try saying that quickly 10 times. And there you have it - BLOG. A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. So you see, you don't have to be a "techie" or an X-Box fan to be a blogger.

Here at Harbor Hills we have put on our blogging hats to bring you the most up to date and interesting information about Harbor Hills; and it doesn't hurt that we don't need to have a technical background to be a "blogger." You can expect to find "postings" that will contain photos of the construction department's progress as well as other items of interest, such as activities and special events. We will keep a link to this posting on the right hand side of the blog, in the Links section for your future reference.

For now, you may find a link to the Harbor Hills Blog from our web site www.harborhills.com , or you may access it directly at http://harborhills.blogspot.com . In the future we will post another article on a method to have our blog's content delivered directly to your computer. It involves another really technical term, RSS.....hint...it stands for Real Simple Syndication, now that is creative!
